The oil on canvas paintings of Dmitri Koustov, with the gestural pattern of elements, unexpected surfaces, and intoxicating colors, are inspired by the artist’s Texas experience. Koustov’s lyricism draws upon the sensual concreteness of the Texas reality, “its sunny towns, hot and bright colorsof land and flowers, tender shades of lakes and seashore, and warm feelings about the people” (D.M).
