Shannon Cannings: Paintings
Ann Wood: Installation

Two Texas artists, Shannon Cannings and Ann Wood, will share the Anya Tish Gallery space beginning on Friday, May 6. The exhibition will feature large oil paintings by Cannings and a mixed media installation by Woods. Both artists are drawn to imagery of common childhood objects that are placed into contexts involving adult concerns. Cannings, whose work is included in the current Texas Biennial, paints images of toy guns. Wood creates sculptural works employing hunter’s decoys and taxidermist’s forms and her solo exhibition is currently on view at the Galveston Arts Center.
